Trapeang Run is a single tower temple situated near three trapeangs and two dikes. The villagers who live around the site use the water infrastructure for cultivation of local crops.

The temple is located in Trapang Run village, Reusey Lok commune, Chikreng district, Siem Reap province. A village road was built close to the temple and it is approximately 6.5 km distant from National Road Number 6.

Trapeang Run temple is mainly constructed of brick. All of the architectural elements, including the temple basement, column, false doors, and lintels are made of brick. All of the female guardian figures are also carved into the brick walls of the temple. The only employed sandstone used in the temple is found in the east doorframe and below the lintels of the three false doors.

This research topic will examine several aspects of Trapeang Run including the physical characteristics (architecture, ground plan, construction technique, brick analysis), the function of the building (name, religion), and its geographic setting. This thesis will then compare the temple with other temples built in the pre Angkorian period.

The results show that the careful construction technique and ornate decoration of Trapeang Run make it unique among temples built in the same period. According the lintel decoration, Trapeang Run fits with the Kompong Preah style, dated to the 8th century A.D. An important difference in decoration is identified in the florescent motifs between the lintel of the southern false door and the northern and western false doors. The female guardians carved on the walls of the temple are not found at other temples in pre Angkorian period, except Prasat Ak Yum. Combined with the lintel evidence, it is suggested that Trapeang Run was probably built in Kompong Preah style during the reign of Jayadevi (706 to 800 A.D.) and was devoted to Brahmanism.
